3.1.14
Walking south-east in the direction indicated Swain Sherdahl turns away from his hired hand. Thoughtfully picturing his house a couple of miles yonder. The gate needs fixing. Hunger grates in his belly. Head filled with details. Much to do.

On the left he passes the nursery of neighbor M.J. Henry (Robson Park/15th). Load of seed stock arrived, an order of trees to be shipped leans outward, Henry is prepared to greet in nodding, trees in stenciled canvas await departure. Making out words he wonders. "Who is H. Giegerich?" Sherdahl shouts. "Merchant in Kaslo!" Henry shouts. Plows forged in gun metal grey stand aside a future cantina.

6d 17h. Geigerich didn't fetch $310 US for this pitcher. But someone did. Medalta pottery is to be treasured. Warm colour and nice weight when held. One of a kind. Merchant Geigerich had his own concerns. Details filled his day too. "I wait for trees." "I own dusty books." "I wish to climb mountains."

Mt. Giegerich (2449 metres). Hiking, scrambling, reading. 49.75600°N / 117.22°W

Medalta Pottery, in the Historic Clay District of Medicine Hat, where bus loads of bored elementary school students are sent on the useless afternoons of their formative years and in the absence of anything actually interesting to see...

Those same students might have amused themselves with stories about geophagists.

After exhausting his supply of clay he ate his bowl.
